HAPPEN
Client: Private Client
Project: Crowdfunding Campaign
Happen began as a strategic challenge around one of travel's most overlooked structural problems, the fragmentation of loyalty points across Qantas, Virgin and various credit card ecosystems that had turned what should be latent wealth into a source of quiet friction.
-
The client had identified that managing points had become a kind of mental gymnastics most people had simply given up on, leaving genuine value sitting unused because the tools to convert it into actual travel didn't exist.
We were brought on to design a single, consolidated platform that could serve two genuinely different audiences at once, the Progressive Aspirers who wanted the hacks and efficiencies, and the Lifestyle Leveragers who wanted ease and security above all else, which meant building something that could read as approachable to a 60-year-old and tech-forward to a 25-year-old without compromising either.
The name Happen came directly out of that brief, an active verb that stood in for the promise of a result rather than the process of getting there. Visually, we moved deliberately away from the cold, corporate register that dominates fintech, choosing soft rounded typography and lime-green accents to make the experience feel inviting rather than transactional, and we developed a full platform prototype alongside website wireframes to support the client's funding rounds, building out the Centralised Rewards Wallet and Intelligent Planning tools as tangible proof of how the friction could be removed.
The intent was to give investors something high-fidelity and ready-to-fire rather than a concept still waiting to be tested. The project didn't ultimately secure the funding it needed to reach market, and it never launched, a reminder that timing and capital don't always align even when the strategic foundation is sound.
What stayed with us was the clarity of the thinking underneath it, a brand built to solve a real structural issue in how people relate to their own travel wealth, and the chance to help the founders see that potential made visible, even without the launch to carry it forward.
